Naglabas ng pahayag ang abogadong si Salvador Panelo na tutulong ito kay Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, anak ni dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, na maghain ng petisyon para sa ‘writ of habeas corpus’.
Ayon kay Panelo, katuwang nito ang anak na si Salvador Paolo Jr. na tutulong kay Kitty na mag-file ng petisyon ngayong araw upang maibalik ang dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa bansa matapos itong pinaalis sa bansa at dadalhin sa Netherlands.
Nakalagay pa sa pahayag ni Panelo na ang isusumiteng petisyon ay laban sa gobyerno ng Pilipinas sa pagpapakulong sa isang Filipino citizen, pagkidnap at isinuko siya sa dayuhang institusyon.
"The petition will ask the Supreme Court to compel the government to bring him back, and for it to account for its constitutional transgressions on the rights of PRRD (Duterte), and its unpatriotic and abject surrender of the country’s sovereignty to ICC, that has no jurisdiction over the former," sinabi ni Panelo.
"The petitioner will be Veronica A. Duterte, the former president’s daughter," dagdag pa nito.
Nitong Martes, sinabi ni Kitty na hindi pinayagan ng mga awtoridad na mabigyan ng atensyong medikal ang kaniyang ama matapos itong arestuhin.
Itinuturing naman ‘unlawful’ ni Panelo ang pagpapaaresto kay dating pangulo.
“He was deprived of legal representation at the time of his arrest. The PNP could not have a hard copy [of] the warrant arrest. By not allowing one of his lawyers to meet him, the arresting [officer] could avoid being asked if they have the hard copy of the arrest warrant,” saad ni Panelo.
“It is an illegal arrest because the ICC arrest warrant comes from a spurious source, the ICC, which has no jurisdiction over the Philippines,” dagdag pa ng abogado.
Samantala, humarap naman sa media ang Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at inanunsyong dadalhin si dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa The Hague sa Netherlands upang harapin ang mga kaso kaugnay sa mga insidente ng pagpatay sa kasagsagan ng war on drugs.
