ISLA NG BOHOL, ITINANGHAL NA KAUNA-UNAHANG GLOBAL GEOPARK NG PILIPINAS

Kinilala ang isla ng Bohol bilang kauna-unahang Global Geopark ng Pilipinas mula na inanunsyo ng United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).

 

Ang nasabing isla ay kabilang sa 18 mga bagong Unesco Global na isinapubliko noong Miyerkules, Mayo 24.

 

“The island’s geological identity has been pieced together over 150 million years, as periods of tectonic turbulence have raised the island from the ocean depths,” pahayag ng Unesco.

 

Ibinigay-diin din ng Unesco ang karstic geosites ng Bohol tulad ng kanilang mga kweba, sinkholes, at cone karst kasama na rito ang tanyag na Chocolate Hills bilang sentro ng geopark.
